

46. The Choice of a New Generation?
Presently a slight majority of Americans are reported
as being pro-life as opposed to the so-called pro-choice
abortionists' option. I would feel no differently if even
a majority of Americans became pro-abortion. As the
Apostle Paul has said in Romans 6:1, "Shall we sin all
the more that grace may abound."
When the actual word "abortion" is used in the
opinion surveys, Americans are opposed to it by a
margin of three to two. Surveys have also shown that
this issue is more important to women than it is to
men. Fellas, maybe there is a solution to some of this
-- if we could just get our men to stand by their women
and step forward and help raise these children. .
Is there a ray of hope? Yes. Abortions are on the
decline; today there are fewer places in America that
perform the procedure. In the last decade, more than
500 U.S. hospitals and clinics have stopped offering
abortions.
The Washington Post
reported last year that
"some older doctors have become disillusioned ... Many
of them believe that abortion has become overused as
a form of after'.'"the-fact birth control."
And in case we didn't notice, pro-life candidates are
winning public office now at an extraordinary rate, both
in the House of Representatives and in the Senate. In
1992, of the 36 House incumbents who lost, 34 were
pro-choice.
The abortionists claim that a woman has the right
to her own body. However, the unborn child is not her
body. The genetic code of the child that is unborn is
different than that of the mother's. The unborn child
may not even be of the same sex as the mother. The
unborn child may have a different blood type than the
