

55. A Special Bond Across the Years
Yes, the reader will note that I still occasionally
collect excellent articles from the
Christian Homes
Newsletter.
Here is a portion of a recent one from
Nancy Miller:
We are often questioned about how young
women and their families feel about placing their
babies for adoption.
It
is our firm conviction that
with proper counseling and the case work
services, these girls and their families can come
to terms with their decisions and continue their
lives in a healthy emotional state. Adoption can
be a very positive result. Portions of a letter
from the mother of a young lady in our maternity
program written to the baby says it best:
I am writing this to you, should you
wonder why you were adopted.
It
is very
important to me that you understand why
you were placed for adoption. Your mother,
my daughter, gave you up for adoption
because she loved you enough that she
wanted you to have a better life than you
might have, were she to try to keep you.
She wanted to be sure that you had the
best, so she was willing to lay her feelings
aside in order to do her best to assure that
you receive the best.
You are doubly loved, you see. You
were loved by your mother enough to give
you up for a better life, and you were loved
by your parents because they loved you
enough to take you as their own. Not every
one has that much love. Have a happy and
fruitful life, always walk with God, and
