Bob Parkhill, director of social services for Christian
Homes of Abilene, estimates that fewer than half of
current unmarried teenage mothers will select the
option to give birth to the child in their womb. Of that
number, he estimates, only 5 to 10 percent will choose
the adoption option.
Considering the adoption statistics prior to 1973 Roe
v. Wade Supreme Court decision, the answer is clear.
The abortionists seem to be doing a better job in their
recruiting than those of us who are pro-life. Where did
we lose in the battle of words, so that our young
people, in increasing numbers, would think that
adoption is worse than abortion?
Surveys of young people indicate that they are
pushing adoption farther down the list of options. As
Parkhill says, "We have failed to teach the sanctity of
