Getting and Giving
This is the difference: The Sea ofGalilee receives
but does not keep the Jordan. For every drop
that flows into it another drop flows out The
giving and receiving go on in equal measure.
The other sea is shrewder, hoarding its income
jealously. It will not be tempted into any
generous impulse. Every drop it gets, it keeps.
The Sea ofGalilee gives and lives. The other sea
gives nothing. It is named The Dead. There are
two kinds ofpeople in the world. There are two
seas in Palestine.
I ask the reader to join me in preserving and
spreading the word about the human side of
capitalism, so that those of us who have been blessed
so abundantly can commit ourselves to leaving our
country and our way of life a little better for the next
generation than it was when we found it. Remember,
from greater prosperity and proportionate giving, the
cause of the Kingdom can be advanced, too.
