It comes back to establishing priorities early
in life. In the late 1950's, James Michener was
invited to dinner by President Eisenhower. He
declined in a letter saying he was going to a
dinner to honor a former elementary school
teacher. The President wrote in reply saying
that Michener had made the better choice.
