Kathy Helpenstill Kathy Helpenstill, associate professor of behavioral sciences - Ju Go Ju 1988 and current sponsor "On silly day, which is Thursday, the whole campus just erupted in craziness and tomfoolery. So, we would have to line up on the wall and stand on our 'cutie crates' for 45 minutes. We would just sing. We also would have to wear dresses every single day because cuties were cute, and we had to wear makeup and to dress nice, and we always, always had to dress like a lady, and we always, always had to act like a lady. Then, on a different day, we would have to move our crates right outside the Benson before chapel. We only had one chapel, and so we would pose. We were models, and we would strike a pose for 30 to 40 minutes before chapel. Anytime someone wanted us to do something in the student center or whatever, we would have to use our cutie crates and had to decorate them. I still have my cutie crate; it's in my garage right now, it's what we put our extension cordsin." Jennifer Hannigan Jennifer Hannigan, adjunct professor in the department of communication - Delta Gamma Rho 2004 "Ultimately, it was just such a bonding experience. Those girls who I pledged with are the people I still talk to outside of Harding, postgraduation. They are the ones I keep up with and still communicate with, just because we did all that together, and it's just such an intense thing over a short amount of time that creates those bonds. Delta Gamma Rho is what made Harding for me. Harding was great, and I loved it, but it was those people who really made it matter to me. I just loved it all. I still get goosebumps hearing the train cheer. There is just nothing like that outside of this time, there is no equivalent to it, and so if you don't get it there, not to say you lose something, but my fondest moments of Harding are DGR-connected in some way, shape or form. My roommate [and] I ended up having to go through all of it. We met through pledge week, and every one of my bridesmaids was a DGR person. It was very important and meaningful, and I think definitely the highlight of my time at Harding." quotes compiled by Emma Vaughn social clubs 57
