Giving 'Till They Bleed Freshman Sara Goen gives blood at the King's Men, Oege blood drive in September. "It was my first time to give blood, so I was a little scared at first,n Goen said. "But once I did it, I felt better because I knew I could be saving someone's life. n Goen is just one example of how Harding students carried the tradition of giving in every area of their lives, although it may not have been as literal as in this case. It was difficult to look around campus and not find some student giving of their time, energy and money for a worthy cause. Harding University is not perfect and it does not pretend to be, but one value it desires to instill in its students is a servant-like attitude in every area of life. Many people do not know of the countless encouragment letters that were sent through campus mail each day. These notes often brought a ray of cheer on a stressful test day or put a smile on a friend's face when it seemed the world was heavy on his shoulders. College students usually do not have hours at a time to help out, but it's the little minutes here and there that add up to make Harding stand out amongst other colleges. Educating for eterenity is more than a nice motto to put on letterhead. It is a world view that students adopted in their everyday attitudes and lives.
