The Bisons take a short time to rebuild the ir strength and endurance. They were a very close team who stuck together during the tough bumps of the season . The Harding Bison basketball team had a rough time of things during the 1992-93 season. "It's been a frustrating year," said head coach Nicky Boyd. "We've played well , and we've improved a lot , but it hasn't translated into wins." At the end of the fall semester the ' Bisons were playing above .500. However, a player was found ineligible. "We had to forfeit nine games because of a transcript problem," said Boyd. The players really responded, he said. "They never quit and they worked hard." "It's been a long season," said sophomore guard Taigo Lewis. "We've had a bunch of bad breaks and we've lost a lot of close games ." Sophomore guard Thomas Norphlet thought the team got off to a good start, with a 7-3 record in their first 10 games , but they were hurt by the games they forfeited . ~ ~ u :c Q > ..; Q >- co 0 r0 l: 0.. There were some bright spots throughout the year. For Boyd, it was beating Henderson State for Harding's first conference win. Some other good points of the year was the consistent play of Thomas Nesbitt , Morris Williams and Ronnie Brothers. "They performed well ," said Boyd. Boyd was quick to point out that five or six guys led the team in scoring at least once. "It was a team effort" he ' said. Norphlet described this year as "emotional". Lewis said that it had its ups and downs . But perhaps the most important aspect of this team was its attitude. Boyd called the team committed, saying that even though they could do nothing about some very frustrating events, they never quit. -Ben Patterson 132 Athletics Soaring high, Thomas esbitt is ready to place the ball in the basket.
