The Lady Bison basketball team ran off another successful season in 1992-93, as they played extremely well. "We got off to a good start, but we lost some close games down the stretch," said head Coach Greg Harnden. Sophomore guard Kristi Wood felt that "we've had some ups and downs, but it was a growing year." Harnden described the season as a roller coaster. The ladies defeated teams they had never before beaten. "We had a lot of big victories ," said senior center Nancee Wilson. The highest point of the year for Wilson, Wood, Harnden and perhaps the whole team was the big victo1y over the defending national champs Arkansas Tech, who were ranked number four this year before being soundly defeated by Harding, 62-53. As for performance on the court, Kymm Hudson and Wilson led the team. Hudson averaged 21 points and nine rebounds per game. Wilson averaged 11 points and eight rebounds. "Kymm's real solid," said Wood. "You know when you getherthe ball, she's going to score." Denise Wiedower, a transfer student, and Jama Holman also played ve1y well. "Denise really helped to improve our overall game," said Harnden. "She's very talented in all aspects of the game ." Another positive aspect to be noted about this team was its work ethic. Wood described the team as "dedicated." They worked hard and gave 100 percent. 11\Y/e always give the best we have," said Wilson. Even so, the team still felt the pressure of high expectations. "Due to the fact that we thought of ourselves as legitimate contenders in our division, we put more pressure on ourselves," said Harnden. The Lady Bisons finished with a record of 18-12, outscoring their opponents by an average of 10 points a game. -- Ben Patterson Athletics 131
