Golf Team Loses Showalter But Gains Ragsdale This year the Bison golf team proved that they just get better as each team member pushed himself to his limit. With each swing of the club, the Bisons' performance and spirits improved from past years, garnering conference and All-District honors in the process. Bart Mcfarland finished eleventh with a 77.4 average. He was also named All-District. All the· starting five returned for the 1992 season. Only Jason Nier completed his eligibility. "I think the guys will do well since most of The Bisons finished third in the eight-team AIC golf conference for the third straight year behind their usual rivals, Henderson State University and Arkansas Tech. The year's series of tournaments prepared them for the District 17 contest in Hot Springs. "These guys were all fine Christian young men who played hard and didn't give up," said Russell Showalter, the team's coach. "You couldn't ask for a better bunch of boys. Showalter retired in August and was replaced by Scott Ragsdale, an assistant football coach. Mike Emerson became the assistant coach for the golf team. Ragsdale was excited at the chance to lead the team to even greater future victories. "I am pleased to be able to work with these guys; we have a lot of talent and they're hard workers," said Ragsdale. "We want to try to improve on the past. I believe we have the power to do even better!"+ Mark Burt set the pace for the team with a 76.2 average. He was named All-District and All-AIC for his seventh place finish in the conference.
