'l(appa rrau Staying Relaxed And Having Fun Kappa Tau was formed about nine years ago when charter members broke off from another club, the sole purpose being to create a more loosely-knit club. Mike Emerson, a Kappa Tau sponsor, described the guys as being very " laid back. " He said, "The guys have always gotten along together, and they've existed as a club because they've stuck together. The club has functioned on a very informal structure, and for it to have a definite set of terms would go against the club 's personality." This year, one of the organizations that greatly benefited from the unique group of guys was the College Church of Christ benevolence program His House. During the 1992 spring semester, Kappa Tau sponsored a service project called " Hoops for His House." This was an all -day basketball tournament for which several from each of the clubs and were charged a fee per team. The tournament, a first ever event by Kappa Tau, was very successful in the amount of money raised and in the amount of participation by other clubs . Prizes were awarded for the winners, and all the proceeds from the tournament went to His House. Mark Pruitt, devotional director for Kappa Tau, said he hoped the club would continue to do such service projects in the years to come. Being a four year member, Pruitt also added, " There were a lot of things 1hoped to see the club do in the future. Since I was a freshman, a lot of things have changed - mostly for the better. Overall , we 've been a bunch of guys who have never been big on formal events. We 've always stayed relaxed and tried to have lots of fun .,,. - Jan Bonds FASHION? WHO NEEDS IT.
