According to Dan Feeney, president of Delta Chi Delta, the club was six times larger than it was when Delta Chi started three years ago. This year Delta Chi decided to become a medium club with 62 members. Feeney felt that this gave them new competitors in sports as well as new friends. Some of the members worried about the increase in size because of the emphasis it would put on sports. They were afraid that it might take away from their strong spiritual bond; however, Delta Chi didn't allow that to happen. Prayer groups and lock-ins helped to maintain a proper balance between their spiritual and sports emphasis. Corey Brown felt the prayer groups had several benefits. "first of all, prayer is good, but it also unifies us because we get to hear what's on each other's heart." At the lock-ins, encouragement sessions gave the members a break from the games to get to know each other better. The encouragement sessions, along with the quality time spent together, brought the strong friendships between the men, as Delta Chi hoped it would. As Brown also said, " Growing in size presents lots of challenges, and one challenge is keeping the friendships from separating in the club (remaining a close knitted group)." Deryk Pritchardson, freshman member, valued his friendships in the club, agreeing that friendship was a big part of the club. "During pledge week the new members got really close." Feeney said Delta Chi was special because it was a diverse group. The members had many different talents, but they were united for one purpose. Feeney said that it was great to have ' ' . . 62 guys focused toward God and serving Him." + - Malinda Moses & Leah Mangrum.
