A L L 5 T A R 5 78 All Stars The Bison Elite Strive for Excellence They came from many different states, coun tries, and walks of life, but all sha red a common goal - to do their best. All thought their sport would win the conference title and all played to make SU fe that dream came true. Hard ing fielded two new women in tercollegiate sports : volleyball and basketball. Both teams did exceptionally well in their first year. Julie Thweatt became the first Lady Bison ever to be named All-Arkansas Interco llegiate Conference in volleyball. Thweatt was not the only woman a thlete that d id well in competition. The 18:43 mark was set at the Ale Championship in Conway. Once again Harding had at least one a thlete in every sport that was named to an All-AIC team. The AIC Clif! Shaw ScholarAthlete Award was won once again by a Bison , Kyle Blickenstaff. This was the 17th time in 26 years. Of course, behind these outstanding athletes were outstanding coaches . These Harding coaches received the honor of being named "Coach of the Yea r" by the AIC and NAIA District 17. Hence , he became only the fourth Bison to receive such recognition. There were many more peopl e who excelled in the Athletic Department but were not named All -Ale AII-NAIA District 17, or Coach of the Year. Success cannot be measured mere ly by being on someone's list. Success is shown by giving it your all. ThaUs what every Harding at hlete did each t ime he or she suited up and wen t out to compe te .
