Members of the art faculty entered several art shows. In the juried show of the White County Artists Association, Dr. Faye 'The Guild is a good deal because it lets art students come together to exchange ideas and opinions. We do mostly art-related stuff but we always have fun, whether we're making clay critters or seeing a film.' - Hugh Gaskill Doran's loom-woven coat took first place and John Keller won second prize with a watercolor. Keller, Dr. Don Robinson, and Mrs. Mason displayed painted scenes of White County a t an invitational show in the new First National Bank building . Dr. Doran exhibited some of her weavings at the Mountain View Crafts Fair. Kent Pate was the overall winner of the 1979 Kappa Pi art show and took first place in graphics with his silkscreen print. Chris Davis was second overall and took first place in drawing. Jim Brandt took first place in photography. Jeff Hughes , now 'doing wood ca rvings at Branson , Missouri, was voted the outstanding art major of the year by his peers. 'I think the Art Guild is good because it brings people together who basically have the"same interest. We learn to share with each other and help one another .' - Monda Fletcher Camaraderie within the department was developed through helping seniors display their exhibits, trips to art shows in nearby cities, the traditional hamburger fry at Dr. Robinson's home, the annual Art Guild sale, and other social events. @ SETTINC UP a lighted pyramid, Kappa Pi members Julie Sink and Doug Laman strive for the best artistic er feet . ..,.
