tion in Reno, Nevada April 17-21. Throughout the year the team was responsible for managing a hypothetical company which sold durable consumer goods. Sponsored by Dr . David Burks, the four team members made a set of decisions each week which were judged according to how well the hypothetical company conducted its business . The last set of decisions were to be judged at the national finals at the University of Nevada in Reno. Returning members of the team, captain Bruce Nunnally and Jeff Earnhart, were assisted by two new members, Ed Rosenbaum and David Perkins. For the third consecutive year , Harding's Economics Team, directed by Dr. Don Diffine, captured the Southwest Regional Students lor Free Enterprise championship in Dallas . Following that achievement, the team placed second this fall in the first National Students for Free Enterprise competition. The team developed a lengthy publication, "Locating in Searcy, AR," which was used by the Chamber of Commerce in attracting new industry . This research project helped Searcy receive an Award of Excellence in the 1978 Arkansas Community Development hogram conducted by the State Chamber of Commerce . Preparing to enter the 1979 economics competition, the Economics Team built its entry around the Center for Private Enterprise Education. A preliminary presentation of the entry was made in chapel during February. It was multimedia in scope, including slides coupled with live narration by tearn members describing the work being done by the Center. Actually a library of private enJerprise literature and audio-visual materials, the Center for Private Enterprise Education was organized by students and is staffed by "young people who are pioneers in mass communication of economics ," stated Diffine . 1.
