FOOTBALL Harding 6 Henderson 12 The Henderson State Reddies used five turnovers to ruin title hopes for the Bisons and earn their first league victory. The loss dropped the Herd to a 2-2 record in AIC competition. The Reddies scored on two field goals and a 17-yard pass, all in the first half of play. Following the intermission, the Harding defense stopped Henderson cold. With great efforts by Clarence Hicks, David Thompson, Ken Merritt, and John Greer, the Bulls allowed only 57 yards offense in the final half. The Bisons moved the ball with ease on the Henderson defense but were unable to score. Running backs Alan Dixon and Charles Caffey gained III yards and 62 yards respectively. Flanker David Lumpkin caught two passes for IS yards, while Ronnie Peacock grabbed three for 55 yards. Harding's only score came in the second quarter on an end-around play by split-receiver Peacock that covered 7 yards. Tech to overcome the Bisons. for the Wonder Boys from R~:::~,: assured them of a tie for the c ship of the AIC. A Harding fumble on the game's first play from scrimmage set up first score. The second touchdown in the second period after the second fumble. Late in the same Tech scored again on a pass blocking a Harding punt on nine-yard line. The final score came on 21-yard scamper off tackle. Hard-running Dixon was held to only 41 yards rushing, his first sub-11lI total in four games. The sure hands Ronnie Peacock snagged seven passes for 71 yards to tie him for the AIC's sinsle season mark of 55 receptions.
