Matters of Stewardship and Prosperity
Balance is the key.
''/wish above all things that thou
mayestprosper and be in good health, even as thy soul
prospereth" (III John 2).
Example? A good friend and
faculty colleague relates this true story: He was
preaching a gospel meeting in a resort community.
Attendance at the meeting was poor, so he asked one
of the Elders,
"Why?"
The answer the Elder gave him
was this --
''Nobody wants to go to Heaven from here."
Our guest preacher said,
''/didn't believe it,"
so he
started asking people who should have been in
attendance --
"Do you want to go to Heaven?" "No,"
they replied.
"Well, then do you want to go to hell?"
''No,"
came the grim answer;
"We just like the setup we
have here!"
Dear hearts and gentle people everywhere,
we should weep for them -- and·ourselves' We are all
fighting this battle on some front.
