

Life and Death Before Birth
were human. But praise God I can live forever
because my father in Heaven is eternal!
Week 4 -- I am growing rapidly every day. I am still
very small, only 1/10 of an inch long and yet already
my eyes, spinal cord nervous system, lungs, stomach,
and intestines are taking shape. My arms and legs are
becoming more defined. But I'll have to wait a long
time yet before those little legs will raise me to my
mother's lap, before these little arms will be able to
swing a baseball bat and embrace my father. My tiny
little heart, which began beating on the 18th day, now
pumps all the more confidently. All this has happened
before my mother was aware of my new life within her.
Week 5 -- My heart continues to beat regularly.
Forty pairs of muscles are developing along the trunk
of my new life. There is regular blood flow within my
vascular system and my ears and nasal development
have begun.
Week 6 -- My skeletal movements began this week.
It
will still be twelve more weeks before my mother
may notice any stirrings. My heart energy output is
reported to be almost twenty percent of an adult. .My
skeleton is complete and the reflexes are present.
Electrical brain wave patterns can be recorded as
ample evidence that "thinking" at some level is taking
place in my new life. This is what separates me from
the animals. I am a thinking person. My hands are
forming tiny fingers. They are quite small, but soon I
will be able to grasp a baseball and bat. ·
Week 7 -- Today the doctor informed my mom that
I am living here just under her heart. She must be
very pleased. I now look just like a tiny doll, with
