In 1975, the Bison Band, later known as the Thundering Herd, was the largest band in Harding's history. During the 1974-1975 school year, the band marched in two parades, performed a Christmas concert in Heber Springs and gave a spring goodwill tour across the U.S. The flood of new members enabled the band to showcase more challenging halftime performances at home football games.
