Beautiful Choice or Unglamourous Option?
Family. It is the closest thing to immortality this
side of the grave. Family is the past, the present and
the future. Family is for growing up in, for going away
from, for coming home to. Family is America's most
productive and efficient department of health and
human services. We are all a part of God's family, the
best of His creation. Real families bend but don't
break in responding to life's challenges.
This book honors, among others, young women
with crisis pregnancies who, though unmarried, boldly
and wisely developed adoption plans in the name of
Godly charity and true religion . With strength of
character, they carried their babies and preserved
their own health and self-worth. Then, by ushering
the new babies safely into the world at full term, the
birthmothers selflessly gave their babies something
that adoptive parents could not: birthdays.
Thereby concluding that chapter of their lives with
compassion and love, the birthmothers released their
babies to fill the aching voids in the hearts of childless
couples. In a sense, the babies were given life twice.
We need to express a very positive attitude toward
adoption and appreciate both the sorrow and joy that
adoption brings to those involved.
It is not just enough to be right in these matters.
Above all, the developing pre-born child is part of the
human family and deserves our welcome into and
guidance through life's noble journey. As the earth
rotates, the lives of natural and adoptive families are
often inexorably linked. This, in part, is also their
story. God often moves in mysterious ways to
complete the family circle.
