In July 2022 NASA released the first images from the James Webb Space Telescope. The five photos uncovered never before seen images of the universe. Webb was released into space by a rocket in December 2021. The telescope explored unknown areas of space by observing infared light in far off galaxies. The telescope was recognizable by the 18 gold hexagon shaped mirrors that reflected infared light. Four camera instruments used infrared detectors to capture light from distant astronomical sources. It was designed to operate for five years minimum. Upon its launch, the solar powered instrument became the world’s largest and most powerful space telescope to date. SEARCHING STARSTHE
