the chapel of my eye Senior Bible and ministry students participated in a special chapel once a week. In 2016, faculty members of the College of Bible and Ministry wanted to create something to encourage their senior majors and minors before they graduated, so they developed the idea of Tabernacle. Tabernacle was a chapel sessionheld every Thursday for senior Bible and ministry majors and minors, but once a month the seniorsonly restriction was lifted. It was meant to be a time of worship and learning that went beyond the daily campus-wide chapel. It was a time and place for students focused on ministry to gather with peers and colleagues. The Tabernacle committee chose the theme "The Presence of God" for fall 2019. Senior Elizabeth Tomlinson, a member of the committee, said she believed the theme was something of interest to all of the committee members as they discussed possible directions for Tabernacle. "We were just talking about it in the beginning of the semester, and some people already had that on their hearts, and then they're like, 'Oh, it's on your heart, too. Okay, thats probably a spirit thing,'" Tomlinson said. Junior Isaac Davis, a member of the committee, said his favorite part of Tabernacle was the energy of the students and faculty during worship. He said he valued the relationships he formed through Tabernacle. 266 "There's something in the air there where people are engaged, and you choose to go there rather than the other chapel because you want to hear something that might be a little different." "There's something in the air there where people are engaged, and you choose to go there rather than the other chapel because you want to hear something that might be a little different," Davis said. Alan Howell, instructor of Bible and ministry, said he hoped it would encourage students as they prepared to graduate. "I think part of the reason [for creating Tabernacle wasjust to have some community-building experience to help seniors as they're finishing up -- just to kind of wrap up well, and to try to speak into that experience and kind of create almost like an initiation,'' Howell said. "I thought that was a great idea and wished I had had a similar experience, and so, I think it's a good thing to do." story by Elizabeth Shores
