240 Teammates and roommates, freshmen Juli Fierro and Kodie Winnings took on their favorite sport together. Despite coming from different backgrounds in their sport, freshmen Juli Fierro and Kodie Winnings led the women's golf team through the fall 2019 season as a dynamic duo. Winnings said her relationship with Fierro as a teammate and roommate gave their golf game a competitive edge and painted them as a double threat. "We were around each other so much that we quickly learned each other's personalities and style of playing early on," Winnings said. "It helped to know how the other person thought, so we could give each other the exact feedback we needed to improve." Post baccalaureate student Lauryn Davidson, women's golf graduate assistant, said it was rare for two freshmen roommates on the same sports team to bond as cohesively as Fierro and Winnings did. "In past experiences, I have witnessed teammates in their situation get tired of each other, and it caused rough feelings during the season," Davidson said. "Juli and Kodie just looked like best friends wherever they went, and it has been really great for the team as a whole." The pair ended their first collegiate season with several strong finishes. Winnings, who broke school records at the first tournament, said she was unaccustomed to playing on a team with Scoreboard women's: Northeastern State University // 15th of 18 Oklahoma Baptist University// 2nd of 10 Central Oklahoma University// 10th of 17 Northeastern State University// 16th of 18 Southern Nazarene University // 6th of 7 Natural State Golf Classic // 2nd of 5 University of West Florida // 9th of 11 Arkansas Tech University// 18th of 20 Great American Conference / / 5th of 9
