2018-2019 Yearbook

TEN YEARS OF TRADITION Women's social club Delta Nu celebrated their 10th anniversary during Harding's 2018 Homecoming Weekend. M embers and alumni ofwomen's social club Delta Nu gathered on Homecoming Weekend 2018 co celebrate the 10th anniversary of the club. Several alumni from each year were able to attend the celebration and reflect on the club's past, present and future. "It was honestly a much bigger hit than any of us thought it was gonna be," senior Annie Nabors, member of Delea Nu, said. "There were tons of alumni there." Vice President of Delta Nu junior Mary Fenner said she was encouraged by the amount of alumni that showed up and said there was a 50/50 split between alumni and current members present. "There was at least one person from each class that was there, and it was really cool just being able to interact with the alumni and hear their experiences," Fenner said. At the first meeting of each semester, the president of Delea Nu read a letter written by one of the club's charter members when the club was established in 2008. Alumna Libby Baur was the one charter member able to attend the celebration and read the letter to the attendees. Both Nabors and Fenner said they enjoyed hearing stories about Delea Nu's early years. "It's funny that a lot of the traditions that we take very seriously like the reading of the letter, or role models that we look up to, or things like that, they laugh off because they thought that it would never catch on; so the original few members were excited to see that we were as invested as we are in our club," Nabors said. President of Delta Nu senior Mariah McClellan said she enjoyed talking with alumni about how club traditions starred and how they had changed. "It was just really fun getting to hear them say why they started doing certain things," McClellan said. "They started Delta Nu wanting it to be a club where diversity was key, and different girls and different personalities were always present and that was something that [Baur] felt like had stayed the same." story by Maty Bain 65 I CLUB FEATURE
