The men came from many different social club including TNT,Knights and Beta Omega Chi (BOX). Other charter members joined Theta as their first social club. The club had an initial induction class of 23 members. As students formed their opinion of the new socialclub, members tried to clarify what Theta stood for. Theta President junior Cayde Newtonsaid Theta did not have one specific mold for members to fit into. "I think that Theta challenges tradition a lot," Newtonsaid, "Theta is really, sincerely,a collection of a lot of different personalities and a lot of different opinions and a lot of different world views." The charter members ofTheta wanted to build their values around making a positive impact and being men of God. They aimed to develop a group that did not take the idea of being a social club as seriously as the idea of being a brotherhood. SophomoreMax Ross joined Theta during Club Week 2018, as part of Theta's first induction class. Ross said he chose to become part of Theta because of the mix of personalitieswithin the club and because of how welcoming they were to every personality type. 62 Ross said the member of Theta were part of a brotherhood that created a safe place to share testimonies wich men who licensed and cared. Ross said he believed clubs were meant for growing together and that becoming a part of Theta strengthened his spirituallife. "I just hope that people come to know that love is the way to brotherhood and love is the way to community," Ross said. NewtonsaidTheta as a whole was a tight-knit group that welcomed others. Ross emphasized that the men ofTheta's aim was to not judge anyone, but the overall mission of Theta was to show Christ' love to all. The social club "belled" junior Emma Grace Taylor on Monday night of All-Club 2018. Taylor said shewas excited to be invited into the group of men who shesaw to be loving and Godly. Taylor saidmany of the men of Theta were a part of her life for a few years prior. She said Theta wasabout being a part of something bigger than just a social club. The men ofTheta wanted those outside of Theta to feel part of the brotherhood. They stroveto be inclusive and to show Christ'slove to more than just members of Theta. "My hope is that they continue to remain in this path of seeking truth and seeking goodness becuase I think that's what they are doing right now," Taylor said. story by Shelbi Bridges
