in memory of DR. CARL G. MITCHELL 1926-2018 Dr. Carl G. Mitchell, former dean of the College of Bible and Ministry and namesake of the Mitchell Center for Leadership and Ministry, died in Mesquite, Texas, on Dec. 19, 2018, at the age of 92. Mitchell served as a soldier in World War II, a missionary in Italy for 18 years and a dedicated leader in academia for 40 years. Prior to his career at Harding, Mitchell served as a professor of psychology and rheology and administrator at Pepperdine University in California. Throughout his life, he spread the gospel and impacted lives in Italy, California and Arkansas. "Dr. Mitchell was the dean of the College of Bible and Ministry when I joined the Bible faculty in 1992," Dr. Monce Cox, dean of the College of Bible and Ministry, said. "He was a really good boss; he had dreams of his own - establishing the Marriage and Family Therapy program, building a new facility, the Mclnteer which opened in 1994, and launching and promoting the Vocational Ministry secondmajor, which is now called "Leadership and Ministry." Mitchell believed in the 'priesthood of all believers' --- that every Christian had a set of gifts and the responsibility to offer chem to the Lord for his purposes, regardless of how they earn a living. It was a tribute to him and to Frankie that that degree, and much more, is overseen by a center that bears their name --- The Mitchell Center for Leadership and Ministry. Dr. Mitchell was also skilled at empowering those of us who served with him to pursue our dreams as well. He was an even-tempered man, congenial and wise. He served us very well." cory by Megan Stroud in memory of DR.DOYLE KEE 1938- 2019 Dr. Doyle Kee, graduate of Harding Academy, Harding University and the Harding SchoolofTheology (HST) and worker in the Center of World Missions, died on Friday, Jan. 25, 2019, in Arkansas at the age of 80. "He transformed the French-speaking world in the way of churches. You can't count the number of Christians chat are Christians because of something my dad did. It's unimaginable.... He did not really care for any accolades. He was really bothered when he was honored for anything. He wanted co be busy working and doing things. He never seemed to desire the affirmation for what he was doing. He was just constantly working hard for the church and doing something all the time. He did so quietly and humbly because he looked for results before anything else." story by Megan Stroud quote adaptedfrom the story by Emory Rockwell published on The Linkon Feb. 7, 2019 305 I MEMORIAL
