2018-2019 Yearbook

AUTHOR. DIRECTOR. PRODUCER. COLLEGE STUDENT. Senior Wesley Bryant's weekends were filled with events surrounding his bestselling book & sponsored reality game show. Not only was senior public relations major Wesley Bryant already a published author, he also became the creator, director and producer of a reality game show during his time at Harding. Bryant released his third novel "RED," on June 15, 2018. Bryant said "RED" was a murder mystery set in his real-life hometown of Fayetteville, Tennessee. On Nov.3, 2018, Bryant hosted a murder mystery dinner event with over 120 people in attendance ready to experience "RED" and to meet the author. "It made me feel like I have a duty of making people feel like they can relate to something," Bryant said. "They can have a moment where they can enjoy themselves, where they can get away from something and try to figure out who the killer is instead of worrying about the problems of the world." Bryant was the creator, executive producer and director of a reality, social game show called "The Totem Pole." The game was inspired by popular TV shows like "Survivor" and "Big Brother" and put competitors through different challenges to see how they ranked, while also giving them chances to vote each other out and change rankings. The show's first episode debuted on YouTube on Jan. 25, 2019, with a premiere hosted and sponsored by Savorand SipCreperie and Coffeehouse. Following the premiere, a new episode aired every Friday until the winner was revealed. Junior Mason Myrick, the winning cast member on "The Totem Pole," said he felt privileged to be a part of the first recorded season of "The Totem Pole" and was looking forward to watching Bryant's hard work pay off. "It's really exciting to see that growth and that dedication that he's put into it," Myrick said. Senior Emory Rockwell, another cast member, said she was part of the first season of "The Totem Pole" and that she felt honored chat Bryant asked her to be a part of the game. Rockwell said the show was filmed in one day and that Bryant kept the day fun while the competitors went through the challenges he had set up for them. Rockwell said she admired his friendly, encouraging attitude and hard work ethic throughout the day. "I think he's someone to look up to because he really does what he sets his mind to, and I think if more people were like that, the world would be pretty cool" Rockwell said. In addition to being the author of "RED" and the creator of "The Totem Pole," he was also leadership editor for the Petit Jean yearbook and vice president for men's social club Omega Phi. "I'm someone who always likes to be on the run and always likes to be doing something," Bryant said. "So, to have these things on the platform that I've been given is really fun." story by Sarah Brister On Dec. 1, 2018, senior Wesley Bryant visits the cabin where season two of"Totem Pole" would befilmed in Searcy, Arkansas.
