BRAVE Senior Jenna Davis and her husband, Harrison, tied the knot two weeks before his deployment to the Middle East. S enior social work major Jenna Davis was married in spring 2018 and became an Army wife. Jenna met her husband, Harrison, after her freshman year, and he proposed a year and a half later after he found out he would be deployed. They got married two weeks before his deployment to Texas and then to the Middle Ease. "Being apart the first year of marriage stinks for us," Jenna said. "We are still learning how to be a married couple, and we've just had to establish good communication with "Having a roommate that was married was actually super inspiring," Olderman said. "I was able to see what God looked like within a union at a very young age and how they lived that out even in long distances. We were all really happy for her when they decided to get married earlier than expected because they got to come together before God and their family before Harrison left. By them getting married earlier than expected, they really showed their devotion to one another for not each other. Going to social events and weddings by myself is also so hard. You know you have someone to do everything with like go to the store, walk the dog, see at the end of the day, but we just can't do those things yet." Cofer and Jenna had been good friends since their freshman year. "It's different having a friend that's married now, bur even harder to understand that she's married, but he's not here," Cofer said. Senior Gracie Olderman was also living with Jenna when she got engaged and then married, and Olderman said she learned a lot from having a married roommate. Although being apart for their first year was difficult, Jenna said that she was excited to be able to mentor young couples who would go through similar situations in the future. Jenna also expressed that the countdown got easier with each month that passed, and she felt comfort knowing that her husband was pursuing his dreams.
