2017-2018 Yearbook

For the last several years, men's social club Knights participated in a unique activity a a gr up: playing water polo in the Ganus thletic Complex pool. What started as just an occasional occurrance eventually became a weekly tradition. enior tephen Hoffmann, I nights president, was proud of the club'. initiative to make water polo a club-bonding sport. "We have been playing [water polo] for a very long time," H ffman said. "It's a time to have fun playing ports with friend , and [we don't take] it too seriously." Because the games were not serious, the focus of the time was spent on each other and trengthening the bond in the club, according to junior Knights member Joseph Berryman. 1ot only did water polo bring the men of Knight closer together, but it also brought other clubs together, too. In spring 2016, a few members from Knights approached the executi e officers of men's ocial club T to see if the other men's clubs wanted to compete in a game of water polo. enior Landon Tabor, 1 T president, was excited about the community that could be created by playing. "The T and Knights history goes back a long way," Tabor aid. "lt's a brotherhood across clubs. ' ot only did the players enjoy the game, but spectators did, too. Both clubs invited all members of the club to come and upporr their team . 'In the bleachers, both clubs were chanting" Tabor said. "Ir looked Like ir \\'as a real club sport. Ir \\'as a fun atmo phere to be in." Berryman enjoyed playing an<l also having the crowd participate in the game. "lt wa one of the most fun things I have done on campus," Berryman said. "There were a lot of people who showed up and watched." Knights members hoped to continue the water polo tradition for future club members to enjoy and create connections. " sand TNT all had a great [time]" Berryman said. "I can't wait to do it again this year." T echoed the sentiment, looked forward to the furure and hoped the water polo tradition would continue.
