2017-2018 Yearbook

Four years ago when I walked into the annual Student Publications retreat as one of two freshmen on staff, I never could have imagined how it would shape my life. The people I have met and the opportunities I have been blessed with thanks to Student Publications have helped make me who I am today. I':1 the beginning, my plans were to help make yearbooks, just like I had done throughout my junior high and high school years, but this has turned into so much more than that. After my role as People section editor freshman year, I moved into a role that was more suited to my goals and talents. I became the assistant layout editor, which gave me the privilege of working and learning under a talented designer who had tons of opinions and advice that she was never afraid to offer. As a junior, I became responsible for designing the entire book, and I was given my own assistant. This year, I worked to invent a new role - a role in which I would be involved with every aspect of creating the book. I became the creative director. Not only was I still in charge of designing the entire book, but I also was more involved in the content from story angles to photoshoots. My goal ~was to be more hands on from the very beginning. Working on the PetitJean has given me the creative outlet that I so desperately needed. When class work became overwhelming and deadlines approached, I never dreaded sitting down in front of my computer to design the pages that would help to tell Harding's stories.
