SHINING THROUGH BEAUTY WORDS Madison Edivards // PHOTOS Adrian Rutter HARDING STUDENT BECOMES MISS WHITE COUNTY Sophomore Adrian Rutter became Miss White County Sept. 11, 2017. Rutter was actively involved in pageants while growing up, but took a break around 5th grade to pursue athletics. In her junior year of high school, she decided to jump back in. "When I was in high (school], I was not very confident in myself," Rutter said. "I was confident in my personality, but sometimes I wasn't the best at showing it. When I got back into pageants, it really helped me see that I am just fine in my own skin. Being able to get up in front of people and have them stare at you for a solid amount of time is pretty scary, but the important thing is realizing I can be confident." After winning the White County crown, Rutter competed in the Arkansas State Pageant. Although the White County pageant was smaller and less competitive, she thought it really helped prepare her for stare, which included women from many counties. The first round took place on Oct. 18, 2017, and the finals on Oct. 21. One of the best parts of the pageant process was the people, according to Rutter. "I lJove] getting to meet all the girls," Rutter said. "[It's] been a long time since I've seen [some of] them but we're still good friends." Junior Miss White County, Morgan Feltrop, junior at Searcy High School enjoyed growing closer to Rutter throughout the process. "I have enjoyed getting to know Adrian," Feltrop said. "J appreciate how sweet she is and look forward to getting to know her even better this year." Pam Son, Rutter's pageant director, enjoyed working with Rutter's leading example. "[The] thing l admire most about Adrian is that she lets God shine through her," Son said. "All you have to do is look at her and her inner beauty shines through."
