Thi year, howeYer, the event was unique because it fell on the same day as the historic solar eclipse. According to Daniel Adams, chair of the department of art and design, the department did not want the students to miss the back-toschool function or the eclipse, so they combined them. Many of the department's rodents and faculty came together for the event outside the art building and maneled at the solar eclip e. enior graphic design major ierra Ca h was one of the students who attended the event. 'What I thought wa o unique about the event was that it brought us all together to watch this really cool phenomenon," Cash aid. ccording to Cash, the event and the solar eclip e helped her see a spiritual aspect to art. ",.'\s an artist, my favorite part was eeing the ere cent hadows on the ground because it showed how God is the ultimate artist," ash said. Another student at the event was senior graphic design major Cecilia utt. 'utt appreciated the event because her fellow students and teachers, along with the natural event, helped to inspire her. A stunning view of the solar eclipse created excitement during the first day of fall classes on Aug. 21 , 2017.
