£n,n· year. Bible majors artended the Bible 11,~jors Retreat at Camp Tahkodah in Floral, Arkansas. This year, the students and faculty joined together to councct and build relationships. providing a way for Bible majors to get closer to each other and to faculty members. The retreat was mostly informal, as students ,at around campfires and engaged in meaningful co1wersations \\'ith one another. Upperclassmen \1-clcomcd the freshman Bible rn,~ors, and those approaching graduation had opportunities to discuss their future plans in mission work, according to !\'lontr Cox, dean of the College of Bible and ~1inistry. The retreat carried a constant theme throughout the year\ "Partners in the Gospel," which was based on Philippians 1 :3. Cox felt it was important for the students to understand that the professors were more than just professors to them. '·\Ve want to say to our students, ·You're more than our students,"' Cox said. "'\,\'e want to be your partners in the Gospel.'" The connections created from the retreat kept students and faculty close. :-.lany of the students claimed they made lifelong friendships through the program. as well as close relationships \1·irh faculty members. Senior Bible major Kyle Dingus attended the retreat all four years that he was at Harding, which helped him to create lasting friendships with his fellow classmates. as well as close relationships with his professors. "It 's been nice for me to talk to my professors and get to know them better -- also talking to people who arc going to be in the ·amc field as I am and Q1aving] friends who arc going to be going through similar struggles [has been nice],·, Dingus said. Senior Bible and preaching major Hunter Hackworth felt it was important to learn all he could from hi classmates and professors. He sairl the rclarionships he made through the retreat were important in that aspect. "If you don't have that ministry from someone rise, it's really hard Lo minister to other people," Hackworth said. '·'This helps because you build friendships with people you can lean on." The relationships formed through this retreat helped students secure connections that would bencfit them in their future careers in missions, allowing them to pursue their passion for Christ through a lifetime of' fellowship wiLl1 their Harding brothers and sisters.
