LOCATIONS CHANGE rr I{ A D I 1' I O N S I{ }: ~I A I N By Dustin Schandevel IL was a yrar of firsts as the popular all-club devotional took place in the RhodcsRea\·es Field House during club week. All-club had previously taken place in the Ganus Athletic and \\'dines Center (GAC) for nine years. The decision was made to mm-c it to the Rhode.-Rem-es after the lnterclub Council (ICC voted in spring 2016. The ICC consistrd of presidents and \·ice pre idcnts of each social club. The change came after the rcnm·ation of the CAC limited bleacher rating and raised doubts among social club members and officers regarding the placement of each club throughout the space. Kara Abston. assistant dean of students, said the Rhodes-ReaYcs won the \'Ole because students did not know what the newly renovated GAC would be like when e\'ery club came together and because the size of the Rhodes-Rem·cs would be ideal to host all of the clubs. She believed students would be excited about the change from the GAC to the Rhodes-Reaves. "Thr ne\1 members will not know the history of all-club i11 tlic GAC," Abston said. ·'They will start their mm history." There were some noticeable changes made by using the Rhodes-Rcm·es. Clubs were seated in sections based off of their ize, with larger clubs placed higher up in the bleachers clue to the format of the seating. Another change was that no one was allowed on the Ooor during the week, which took away an all-club tradition. Senior Kelly Hall said she was clisappointrd with the change. ''The fact [that] we can't walk across to different clubs has taken some of the fun," Hall said. "One of the big things about all-club is getting to see all the queens and beaux run to their clubs from aero. s the gym." The floor being clo eel off also took away the ability Lo remain in the facility after the conclusion of all-club. Everyone was asked to lcaYe from specific exits a soon as all-club ended. Senior Cameron A\·ery said he was not upset when he first heard all-club mo\·ccl to the Rhodes-Reaves. However, he said one downfall was the inability to hear every club. ''ln the Rhodes-Reaves you can !war all L11e murmurs, so it's hard to hear some of the smaller clubs do their cheers,·' A\·ery said. "\\'hen everyone joins in \1·ith them it drowns them out.'' Hall belie\'ecl that the new member clas. enjoyed all-club in the Rhocles-Rca\'es. "l think it's cool that this class gets to be the first one to have [all-club] in the Rhode -Reaves," H all .aid. "It's a new experience for everyone, e\-en for older members, so we're all going in to it together." All-club made a brief return to the GAC on the la t night of club week clue to rnlleyball and basketball team practices taking place in the Rhodes-Reaves. Everyone sat on the floor after the bleachers were removed during renO\·ations, which allowed for at least one night of traditional all-club.
