I Photo by A1acy Pate HERE LONG HALL FOR TH E Lydia Hall, 1996 alumna, was hired as the new residence life coordinator (RLC) for Shores Hall and moved into the dorm, along with her family, during summer 2016. After she and her husband jay graduated from Harding, Hall became a graduate student, teacher, then business owner. In 2014, Hall decided she wanted to become a dorm mom. Hall said becoming a dorm mom was something she would have never thought of doing in her time at H arding or after graduating, but she loved having the new experience. She and her husband,] ay, got married on campus in Shores Chapel 20 years previous, so she said it was interesting to move into Shores Hall, because it was as if they came full circle together. '"vVe love being on campus," H all said. "This is our alma mater, so it's like coming home for us. [My husband and I] met here and got married here. It was really where [we] started our lives together." Hall and her family moved to Searcy in 2012 and said they were excited lo move back onto the campus that meant so much to them. "The thought ofstaying here in Searcy never occurred to me," Hall said. "Once we left, we really started Lo miss it. We came back because we wanted 210 ), U ..\llLH~IIIP By Tiffany ,\!Jells our kids to have opportunities [in] Searcy. We used to live in a very small town. T here arc a ton of resources here for our family." Juniorjaimc \\lelfarc, a first-time resident assistant (RA) for Shores Hall, loved getting to learn, alongside Hall, how to make dorm life run as smoothly as it possibly could. "It's been great having Mrs. H all as my first dorm mom, because I feel like I can talk to her about everything," Welfare said. "[She has] been really kind." Junior Katelyn Walker, resident of Shores Hall, said she loved having Hall as her dorm mom. "Mrs. Hall is great," Walker said. "She is also very easy to talk to. I feel comfortable having conversations [with her]." Hall loved her experiences while living in Shores Hall, and said she was excited for the future of getting to know the girls and building strong relationships with them. She said she wanted to be an encourager for them and help them through this part of their lives. "'!\le prayed about this for several years before coming here," Hall said. "',Ve wanted this to be our ministry. \;\le want to be the hands and feet !of Christ], so whatever God wants us to do, we will do it."
