2015-2016 Yearbook

C l_ 0 s N G Contradictions live within each of us, and contradictions surround each of us, yet we find ourselves daily searching for an unwavering source of support on which we can rely. Throughout the college experience, students undergo many changes and opportunities for growth. And although everyone on campus is undergoing similar changes, students are under immense pressure to appear "perfect" to their fellow classmates, professors, friends and family, or even to themselves. The picture of perfection can include earning high grades, maintaining a booming social life, participating in various organizations and taking steps towards successful future careers. As we seek out that picture of perfection in our own lives, we unknowingly alter the different versions of ourselves. When we try to satisfy our undying longing to find an unchanging earthly foundation where we can stand, we will inevitably fail as every ea1thly foundation crumbles, shifts and separates in its own contradictions and imperfections. And if not the foundation, it is us who crumble and shift, rendering the foundation useless. Every relationship has its scars, every plot has its twists, and every yearbook has its misplaced Oxford commas. We find ourselves seekjng a perfection that does not exist on this side of eternity as our only constant and perfect foundation is not of this world, but of the next.
