BEATLESFEST Delta Nu comes together for a fall festivity in honor of the Beat/es I n a celebration of the arts, Delta Nu made the theme of their fall function something that would capture the heart of the club. Using a mixture of creativity, music and seasonal festivities, Delta Nu created Beatlesfest which took place Oct. 12 at Camp Wyldewood. "Something that a lot of girls in Delta Nu have in common is their love for music," activities director junior Amanda Emmet said. "We thought this would be perfect becaUSE? the Beatles are such a universally loved band, and there was so much we could do with it." Emmet encouraged the approximately 25-30 couples who attended to dress appropriately for Beatlesfest. People dressed up as different songs by the Beatles or even the Beatles themselves. "People dressed up as anything related to the Beatles," Emmet said. "My date and I dressed in all black and made masks that made us look like birds. We were the song 'Blackbird."' Dressing for the theme of Beatlesfest was not the only activity couples participated in. Delta Nu took advantage of the season by celebrating aspects of fall. "We just all got to hang out," senior Victoria Wood said. "We carved pumpkins, made s'mores, drank hot apple cider, and we got to spend time with all our best friends in Delta Nu. It was so much fun!" Junior Breana Josephson said one of the most entertaining aspects of the function was the beaux Gamma Sigma Phi est. 2001: Row 1: M. Cole, A. Lane, L. Raynor, T. Carrell , A. Everybody sang along while the beaux played, but Josephson said sometimes the girls would change the lyrics of the song for comical reasons. According to Josephson, the theme of this function was one of the more creative themes she had heard of. "[Delta Nu girls] pride ourselves on doing something different or something no other club is doing," Josephson said. "Having a unique theme was right up our alley." Emmet attributed the resurgence of interest in the Beatles to the recent film "Across the Universe." Because many Delta Nu members were interested in creativity and art, Emmet and fellow activities director junior Anna Vinzant thought the "the club would have a lot of fun with this." Many girls enjoyed the informal atmosphere of the function. Junior Zoe Growald said it was more "low-key" than many other Delta Nu functions. "It was fun to just hang out with friends on a special night, somewhere we don't normally go," Growald said. "It was less involved than some of our other functions, but sometimes simple is better." Emmet and Vinzant created a function that touched the heart of Delta Nu: a passion for art, music and innovation. Beatlefest thrilled the club members, and they had a chance to celebrate some of the things they cherished about their club. Corey Stumne GATA est. 1938: Row 1: K. Bailey, L. Ragland, K.
