~~(ir\~ A~.f10 PROVIDE for animals Through the student chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), interior design majors learned about networking, the design field and how to become professional ASID members in the future while simultaneously showing off their creative style. In order to help with their efforts, the group held a fundraiser with an artistic twist during Homecoming weekend. Using extra fabric, map board and wall coverings from the program's library, ASID students created small spiral notebooks of graph paper, as well as fabric embroidered key chains, for their fundraiser. "[We wanted it to] have something to do with interior design, but at the same time be something that everybody can use," junior Leslie Killebrew, student president of ASID, said. The organization used the proceeds from the Oct. 28 fundraiser for the chapter as well as Habitat for Humanity. According to sophomore Anna Vinzant, assembling the items took lots of time and patience, which the group was able to pull off successfully. "I spend all my time with those girls," Vinzant said. "There are a lot of group projects and a lot of helping one another." In addition to providing opportunities such as the fundraiser, participation in ASID was essential for gaining knowledge of the industry and contacts for future jobs. Since there were various chapters of the organization throughout the nation, students played key roles in communication between the chapters. "It's nice to be able to talk with other students and see what kind of projects they are working on," junior Meredithjones said. Though Harding's interior design program may have been smaller than those of other chapters in the area, students' hard work nevertheless made an impact. "In the past, it has been hard for people to get involved," Killebrew said. "We're trying to do more now so they can." Vinzant shared Killebrew's high hopes for the program's future and its increasingly well known reputation among other students. "Our students are producing really good work," Vinzant said. "Even though we're small, we're strong." Hannah Robison ASft> ~tl ~\'ic...k ~tlioSt Row 1: S. Hullum, L. Killebrew, K. Lacy, M. Murray, R. McHenry, A. Pritchard. Row 2: R. Clark, E. Clark, R.
