"One of the coolest things to me was that while we were thanking the older members for what they had done for the club and for founding it on godly principles, they were thanking us for upholding that," Vice President Heidi Tabor said. Ashe[ Parsons Cone Chapel fills as new and old Zeta Rho members gather for the reunion. Almost 200 current and former members and beaux attended the celebration. Ashe[ Parsons On Nov. 28, 20 ll , both new and old members of women's social club Zeta Rho came together to commemorate the 50th anniversary of their club in the best way they knew how - through friendship and faith in God. The reunion was held in Cone Chapel during Homecoming weekend, and hundreds of women attended. For current Zeta Rho members, the reunion offered a brief window into the past, enabling them to see their club's origins. For former members, it provided a chance to see a little of the legacy they built years ago. "I loved the reunion and wish we could have one every year," junior Evann Perry said. "It was great to be in a room full of different generations of people who love Zeta Rho as much as I do. I met one of the charter members. Her being there at age 70 showed me that it is still important to hang out with friends from years past." 1979 alumna Cindy Smelser Eason was one of the reunion attendees, and she said coming back made her remember the reasons why she loved the club in the first place. "Zeta Rho girls reached out to me as an incoming freshman," Eason said. "They had a spiritual strength that attracted me, and I wanted to be a part of a group that would help me grow spiritually. My closest friends throughout my college years were in Zeta Rho, and we still keep in contact today." Forjunior Bonnie Smith, the best part of the reunion was seeing the ability of all the women from different walks of life able to relate to one another, despite being decades apart in age. "I was selling T-shirts most of the time, but through that I got to see women from their 20's to their 70's," Smith said. "I thought it was so wonderful to get to talk with women in all stages of life but who all still love Zeta Rho. It was also cool to realize that the club honestly hasn't changed very much. The women that were in it years ago would still fit today!" For alumnae like Eason, the memories that came flooding back made it feel as though they had never left the club. "There were a few members from my years (1975-1979) who attended the reunion, and amazingly, we just picked right back up where we left off years ago," Eason said. "I got to see my club sponsm~ Eloise Muncy, who gave the club a solid foundation in years past. When we had our picture taken and began singing the club song, the words immediately came back to me although I have not sung it in years. Suddenly, we laughed and sang as if we were teenagers in college again." All who attended agreed these feelings of sisterhood and unity were their greatest blessing as a club. "Zeta Rho has been successful because we have had leaders who have passed down the love of Christ," junior Hannah Allen said. "No matter what generation we fall under, we all have the common goal of Christ and share the Zeta Rho jersey." Sarah Eason Social Clubs J-1- ,._
