"I was at work whenjordan Stills called me and said he needed to give me a function shirt," junior Paige Price said. "I met him in the student center, and he said he had to go get it from his truck, so we went back by the Bible building toward the fountain. When we went outside, they all ran up to me, grabbed me and said, 'Come on in!' [All of the new queens] had to say, 'The water's fine!' andjump in the freezing fountain." Price, a Pikes queen, was one of a select few girls on campus who had a story like this to tell. Becoming an honorary member of a club was a great privilege, and queening ceremonies like Price's were unforgettable. As queens, these girls got the opportunity to support and encourage a group of guys, in addition to gaining a rare sneak peek into what club week was like on the men's side. "I think the most rewarding part about being a queen during club week was watching the men in the club bond and form relationships," senior BOX Queen Angela DeCamp said. "When I saw them interacting spiritually and growing closer, it made me so proud to be their queen." Although being a queen came with a lot of responsibility, queens agreed they received significantly more joy than stress from their roles. "You have sixty-something guys that are just willing to cheer you up, be there for you or encourage you," junior BOX Queen Katie Kirkpatrick said. "That is such a blessing." Queens were able to form deeper friendships with the guys in the club, beginning during club week. They were relationships that would stay with them forever. "At our [the queens'] station during the spiritual retreat, the three ChiO queens talked with new members in pairs about their struggles and burdens," junior Kyodai Queen Allison Bradford said. "We had the opportunity that night to pray for each one of the new members, and that experience truly touched my heart. I feel blessed to be a part because they truly are great men of God."
