In Loving Memory Ty Osman II Harding University lost a beloved student and friend spring break 2012 when freshman Ty Howard Osman II passed away on Sunday, March 4 after a car accident on Friday, March 2. To honor Osman, the student body came together for a candlelight ceremony Monday night after returning from the break, as well as a memorial service in chapel that Friday. Fliends of Osman also began service projects and dedications to honor him. Freshman Comtney Davis initiated a fundraiser by selling $4 bracelets, which read "In ~1emory of Ty Osman II 1 Thessalonians 5: 16-18." The money would go toward a memorial for Osman on campus, as well as enabling kids to do mission work in Honduras who could not afford it otherwise. In addition, social clubs TNT and Zeta Rho dedicated their Spring Sing 2012 show, of which Osman had been a participant, to his memory. Osman's funeral was held at Woodmont Hills Church of Christ in Brentwood, Tenn., on Friday, March 9. According to freshman Grant Schol, who attended the funeral, the verse Psalm 73:36 was placed above Osman's grave. Osman Tweeted the verse shortly before his death: "My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever." An international student from Gumi City, South Korea, Suh had graduated from Harding Academy and was studying chemistry at the University before his death. His funeral, which his parents, Boksoo Suh and Misoon Namgung, and his brother,Jungmok Suh, flew in to attend was held in the Heritage Auditorium on the following Friday. Former international student and friend of Suh's, Bongjoo Kim, delivered the eulogy in both Korean and English, and Dr. Jim Carr, executive vice president of Harding University, led the opening prayer. Looking back on his memories of Suh, Kim spoke of the special bond they shared. "Because you arc from Korea, same age as me, and you know me well, you could understand me, relate to me and laugh at inside jokes with me better than anyone else. I can still remember the videos, stories, and jokes that we laughed at, and I miss those times." Harding Academy teachers and students led singing, while President David Burks closed the service with a personal message. All who attended offered their condolences to Suh's friends and relatives.
