ktA~Ai"~ HARMONY IN • • mtssourt Traveling the country and spreading the word of God through song, the Good News Singers were an encouragement to everyone they encountered. The group consisted of ll students: five male vocals, five female vocals and one vocal percussionist, traveling far and wide to sing for audiences of various ages and backgrounds. On Oct. 8, the group traveled to Silver Dollar City in Branson, Mo., for their annual Church of Christ weekend concert appearance. The group spent Lhe weekend singing and meeting other a capella groups. The trip culminated in two performances on Saturday afternoon. According to senior Matt Flynn, listeners were able to hear a variety of songs from the group as they passed by. "It's a really relaxed atmosphere," Flynn said. "It's also neat because there are a lot of people that we sing to that are in the church, but there are also non-Christians passing by that just stop to listen." Several other vocal groups also performed during the weekend, including A Cappella, Vocal Union and Oklahoma Christian University's New Reign. The Good News Singers had the opportunity to interact with members of other groups and listen to their performances. "It was really awesome getting to hang out with them, meet them and see them perform live," senior Beck Martin said. The singers' regular schedule involved traveling nearly every weekend, staying busy but positive and working as a team. "We have gotten close, and we got close so fast," Martin said. "It gives you a whole new group of friends you can go to if you have something going on in your life that you need to talk about or need prayers for.
