2010-2011 Yearbook

The new inductees of Delta Chi Delta meet on the front low on Oct. 25 to plan out their busy week. Delta Chi Delta strove to be o service oriented club throughout the year. }on Yoder Lendi8q o Helpful Hand :,) c 0 ~ Q) D Consisting of aboub1 active members, Delta Chi Delta was the only men's social club chartered as a service club. According to senior Robb Hare, the legacy of the founders, emphasizing service to Christ over anything else, was still the most important aspect of the club. "The idea and practice of service are still ingrained in the spirit of Delta Chi Delta," Hare said. "We make it a priority to do at least one service project a month." Not only was the club dedicated to lending a helping hand, but the members were also very close and considered themselves to be brothers. They loved to work together as a group on community projects, like their multi-club rake-and-run throughout the entire city of Searcy, but the members worked to serve as individuals on their own time as well. Delta Chi Delta enjoyed the more typical club activities, such as functions and club week cheers, just as much as any other club on campus. The main focus, however, was showing others Christ in them through their works. Carrie Martin Row 1: R Corter. S. Pence. M. Philbec~ W. Booth. M. Armstrong. Row 2: H. Watkins. K Sherrod. J. Abby Kellett Finding. Tneir Beat After two v~ars as a fledgling club on campus, Delta Nu was proving to be a club t!lat c~e up with its own ideas. As one of the girls in the inaugural class for Delta Nu, junior Kenzie Brewer had experienced the growiog'i!nd changing of the club. "The girls now are choos'ltig what we want it to be in the future and Ithink that's what sets Delta Nu apart- its flexibility to be what it needs to be," Brewer said. "Most of us come from no home club, so we have little preconceived notions about what our club experience should be like, and it's more of what we want out of one." One of the most unique aspects of Delta Nu was the names of the club officers: the president was the First Lady, the devo director was the Reverend, and the treasurer was the Treasure Chest, just to name a few. "I love this because it is us trying to be different and not just going with the flow of how it's done in clubs here at Harding," sophomore Victoria Wood, member of the first inducted class for the club, said. Members of Delta Nu did not feel they needed to fit any certain stereotype. "There is no real common thread among any of us as far as basic interests go, it's simply the fact that we chose the same place," Brewer said. "Because of that, we're able to do lots of fun things together and it's always interesting." Caitlin Caldwell club profiles 253
