This soohomore transfer from Little Rock, Ark., might not have been interested in the same hobbies most students were into. While most students might have been studying, getting coffee at Midnight Oil or watching TV on a Tuesday night, Kendall Stafford was at a comedy club participating in a comedy competition. Petit Jean staff writer Caitlin Caldwell sat down with Stafford to get to know "the real Kendall." C: So Kendall, how did you first get involved with comedy? K: In my old school in Minnesota, we had an open mic night, and my friends encouraged me to do it because they thought I was funny, so I did. I'm really glad I did. C: What are the competitions like? K: Really kind of relaxed. I'm friends with a lot of the people who participate, so it's nice because it's just friendly competition. C: We heard you have some interesting tattoos; please share. K: I'm a big fan of Edgar Allen Poe, so my first tattoo was a raven with the words "never more" from his poem "The Raven." Most interesting is the dark mark on my arm like a death eater from Harry Potter. I have always admired the dark side of things and that is why I aspire to be a death eater in life. C: We also heard you love Gossip Girl. Tell us why. K: GG is just amazing. If you have ever looked into the eyes of Chuck Bass then you will fall in love with it too. He is like the devil, there is a little devil in all of us, and that devil wants to be with Chuck Bass. C: Why did you transfer? Do you like it here at Harding? K: I transferred for some family stuff. I'm really liking Harding so far. It's a lot of fun to meet new friends. C: What do you like to do in your spare time? K: I enjoy hanging out with my friends, writing new jokes. C: Who do you look up to in the comedy world? K: Jim Gaffigan and Jerry Seinfeld. C: What is your most embarrassing moment? K: One time, I was in Wai-Mart not too long ago, and somehow my pants fell down in the middle of the store. It was pretty embarrassing. C: What's your dream girl like? K: I haven't really thought about it a lot, except she looks exactly like Hermione in Harry Potter. C: What does your dream job look like? K: I really like this comedy stuff so it'd be really fun to get to travel around and tell jokes for a living. I've met a lot of people who do that and would love to do what they do. C: Do you consider yourself to be funny? K1. I dor,'t ljkr to call myself funny, that's a jerk thing to say.
