Iota Chi and Ko Jo Kai each held a Halloween function. It was lata Chi's first fall as a club and their first function. Junior Megan Stewart, activities director for Ko Jo Kai, said it was their first Halloween function in a few years. "We were trying to think ofdifferent things to do for a function," Stewart said. "We knewwe had access to a farm, and we thought this would be a fun idea." The Ko Jo Kai function was held at junior activities director Elizabeth Cramblett's family's farm located outside of Searcy. Eachclub had different activities and themes for the night, but they both had a costume contest. At both functions, couples wefe told to come dressed as a pair, and prizes were awarded for the best outfits. Seniors Adam Thomas and Iota Chi member Laurel clubs McKinnon dressed as G.1. Joe and G.I. Jane. "} think the function was a good substitute for Halloween activities," Thomas said. "Because ifyou go trick-Of-treating at 21, people stare at you weirdly." Costumes at t he Iota Chi function included a flapper girl and a gangster, a white trash couple, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, and the winners came as Waldo from the book series, "Where's Waldo." Stewart said she thought the most creative cos– tumes at the Ko Jo Kai fun ction were seniors Rachel Hatfield and Nick Eudaly who came as a connected pair of chopsticks. "It was so funny; they couldn't even sit down," StC\vart said. The chopsticks di.d not win, but the winners ofthe Ko Jo Kai original costume contest were junior Ali White and senior Jared Winters who went as Sonny and Cher; White was dressed as Sonny and Winters was dressed as Cher. They were awarded coupons to Lenny's Sub Shop. Iota Chi's function was held in a barn outside of Making I'marel, junior Sara Smith and sophomore Katie White, Ko Jo Kai members, grab a snack during Ko Jo Kai's Halloween function Oct. 30. The couples went through a haunted house, played Halloween games, went on a haunted hayride and ate s'mores and candy by a bonfire. Senior Megan Milner, Iota Chi member, said her favorite part of the function was meeting new people. "We all came from such random groups, but we all mixed in well and enjoyed each other's company," Milner said. Junior Amy Bingman, Iota Chi member, said she thought the people made the function great. "Since we are a small club, you knew everyone there and most of their dates, and that made it a lot oHun," Bingman said. Events at the Ko Jo Kai function included watch– ing the movie "The Goonies," cooking hotdogs and hamburgers, the costume contest and a hayride. Both clubs said many people attended the func– tions and said it could be a function they would be interested in doing it again the next year. ·Morondo Abercrombie
