Before the smdems left for London, they found out at a Harding University Engl.1nd barbecue the premiere would be in London. Since the premiere was on a Sunday and church was 50 minutes from Leicester Square, where the premiere took place, the students could nOt make it to the premiere as early as some would have liked. Although the premiere began at 6 p.m., some ofthe students wanted to be at the premiere earlier that morning, but because of church they did not get there until 1p.m. ''Itwas sad because it was on Sunday, and ifit had beenon aSanutiay, wewould havecamped outandbeen right at the front where everything was," sophomore Kristi Waite said. "We even booked it after churcll, and when we got there, it was all filled up so we had to stand in the back where the cars all drive in." To entertain themselves while waiting for more than four hours, Waite, sophomores Kristin Martin and Jessica Reed and several others made videos and practiced with their cameras to get the best shoe. Other HUEstudents, includingsophomores Lauren Mclaughlin and Erin Younger, arrived later in the afternoon. One of the things the students noticed was the energy in the air. "It was very energeticand exciting because as soon as anyone saw a car come lip or anyone walkdown [rhe sidevvalk], even if it wasn't someone famous, everyone started screaming and pressing forward," Marcin said. "1got trampled SO many times.1l1e best people we could see were Fred and George Weasley Uames and Oliver Phelps]. Theycame right in front ofus, and then 10m Felton [who plays Draco Maifoy] came pretty close." Younger said there were so many people at the premiere thatshe and one ofher mends had to struggle to get closer to the action. While most of the students left once the movie had begun, Waite went back after the premiere was over to see the actors as they len:. "I gOt on my roommate's shoulders and got really goodpicrures ofthe twins Uames and Oliver Phelps]," Waite said. Reed said she went to say she had been to the world premiere. "1had never been to a movie premiere," Reed said. "1wasn't going togo at first because I don't like crowds at all, but it's the Harry Potter world premiere; it was one ofthose once-in+lirerime [opporruniticsl." Mclaughlin and several other srudents were able (0 see the movie in the same theater several weeks later when it opened, and everyone saw the movie when it opened to the public. The Harry Porter movies, inspired by the books by British authorJ. K Rawling, were set in London. The fourth in a series ofseven movies, "Harry Porrer and theGoblet ofRre" made more than $880 million worldwide in less than six months. •Cynthio Nooh
