Mills. ~ ,§SURVIVOR INDuaEES STRUGGLETO MAKE ITTHROUGH The clamor of voices bounced through the student center as inductees did whatever it took to get into their clubs. Meanwhile, senior Adam Morgan, a member of Delta Chi Delta, said he sat back and watched the show. "Induction Week is the one week where it is acceptable to sit in the student center and do nothing but people-watch," Morgan said. Having already gone through Induction Week his freshman year, Morgan said he found the process much more amusing on the other side. Freshman Amanda Phillips, who joined Kappa Gamma Epsilon this faIt said it was best to stay away from the headquarters of Induction Week. "Avoid the student center," Phillips said. "Don't walk through the middle, because they're watching for you." However, 'they' could not be avoided forever, and Phillips said she had to give cheers before some club members would sign her Induction book. Freshman Adam Hooten, TNT inductee, said to get himself through Induction Week, he had to concentrate on the end and not think about how long it felt. "I just have to remember that it's only a week long, even if it feels like it has already been a week, and we're only on day three," Hooten said. Some students, however, said there was no way to prepare for Induction Week. "The Sunday that Induction Week started, I called my mom and said 'Morn, in an hour and a half the walls are going to come crashing in. If you don't hear from me in a week, come find me,'" sophomore Daniel Caceres, Gamma Sigma Phi inductee, said. Caceres said the induction process was about more than just getting through the week. "You don't get yourself through Induction Week, you survive induction Week," he said. He said that to survive Induction Week there was a concept everyone needed to learn - unity. "You rely on your other inductees," Caceres said. "The whole purpose of Induction Week is to try to get the group to work as one." Caceres said he kept his spirits up by remembering the prize ahead of him. "You have to have a positive attitude, [remember] that it's only a week, and realize that at the end of that week you will be a part of the amazing bond of brotherhood and sisterhood," he said. -STACEYCONDOLORA Omega Sigma.
