Occasionally the to-do list for Searcy seemed short, so many students drove to Little Rock for mOfe options. Searcy was located 50 miles north of Little Rock. Arkansas' capital cityboasted restaurants, shopping malls and other entertainment opportunities that made Searcy's hot spots look all too familiar. Some students made trips to Little Rock simply to eat. "I love Red Lobster, and the closest one is inNorth Little Rock, so about once a month my friends and I make the trip," freshman Kara Beth Sisson said. Little Rock housed many shopping centers, strip malls and gift shops, but, McCain Mall and Park Plaza Mall, the two largest malls were more popular. "I love going to McCain Mall because I am from Virginia and don't know my way around Little "I went and saw Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera at Alltel. "I prefer shopping at Park Plaza because it has Abercrombie and Fitch, and it is across the street from Bennigan's, my favorite restaurant," junior Anna Wilson said. Harding students often escaped to Little Rock for large entertainment events at Alltel . Arena, which showcased concerts, children's activities and sporting events. "I love football, and arena football is pretty exciting," junior Barkley Terry said. "T like going to Alltel to watch the Arkansas Twisters." Many popular musicians liave performed at Allte1. The relatively new facility offered I h h d" many large acts that had never performed in Arkansas before. ave ever a. For the outdoorsman, Little Rock was home to Pinnacle Motmtam and the Arkansas River, which ran through the city. Both allowed for many popular outdoor activities like hiking and fishing. The Little Rock Zoo was also a much-loved outdoor site, senior Lauren Hickman said. 74/1 people The Arkansas Travelers baseball team, the fann team for the Anaheim Angels organization, played ball at Ray Winder field in Little Rock. The ballpark hosted "Searcy Night," which allowed Searcy residents, as well as Harding students, to attend for free. Little Rock's River Market district was a place to walk around and enjoy food, music and the river. H had many restaurants, an amphitheater and gift shops. During the holiday season, the river market had an outdoor ice-skating rink, fully decorated with poinsettias and Christmas lights. Whatever the attraction, Harding students could always find something to entertain themselves while in Little Rock.
