Harding Through training and conditioning inpractice sessions, athletes established the abilities and perseverance they exercised incompetition. InHebrews 6: 11-12, the author wrote, "We want each ofyou to show this same diligence to the very end, in order to make your hope sure. We do not want you to become lazy, bur to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised." Athletic events lasted until the final blow of the whisde or the last our was made. However, athletes did not stop competing or performing until they achieved their goals and excited their funs. Although student-athletes enjoyed the cheers ofBison funs, many knew the thrills ofearthly competition would not compare to the honor gained from playing for God's team ofbelievers.
