Social club chosen for Petit Jean Service Award Ko Jo Kai's club verse, Phil. 2:1-2, says, "If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, thenmakemyjoycomplete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose." Members of Ko Jo Kai became one in order to serve others and to become more like Christ this year. Ko Jo Kai was chosen by the Petit Jean staff as this year's Petit Jean Service Award winner for the club's dedication to the community and to the Lord. This year, members served the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation in several differentways. In October,Ko JoKai participated in the JDF "Walk For a Cure" in Little Rock, raising $2,500 for the foundation. "Walk For a Cure' has been my favorite service project since I joined Ko Jo Kai my freshman year," senior Amber White said. "It's so much fun and a great experience to see thousands of people around you walkingforthesamecause." A couple of years ago, a former Ko Jo Kai member who works for the foundation asked members to help JDF in various ways. The service that members participated in this year helped to encourage the club to grow closer to each other. "The service projects broughtuscloser to Christ and closer to each other," White said. Senior Melanie Warthan, Ko Jo Kai service project director, plans opportunities for the club to serve.
